Breaking Health News

There was a research study by The University of Minnesota, Dr. Sibley on vitiman D levels with greater weight loss.  It was a small study but it is signifigant and worth more reasearch.  It is thought that vitamin D levels help weight loss.  It was discussed at an annual Endocrine Society Meeting as well.

The Annals of Epidemiology published a report on genetic mutations, University of California.  Reserach has shows  that inadquate vitamin D levels may result in cells loosing their stickiness or intercellular adhence. Check out the DINOMIT model for preventing and treating cancer.

The answer is yes, they are discriminated against.  If you are 66 years old, you are on Medica and pay only $12.00 for Allegra.  If you are 61 and on Health Partners, you pay $36.00 for genetic Allegra, a cheaper brand name that doesn’t work.  Both are former employees of the school district. Whose keeping the money? The first patient pays almost $300.00 for health insurance, the second patient pays almost $700.00 for health insurance.  Same former employer, group policies, same levels of care. Sucks, right?

Hyperthryroidism is when the thryroid overly active and produces too much of its hormones.  It affects women five to ten times more than men, it is most common in people under age 40. These people may have symptoms such as sweating, feeling hot, rapid heartbeats, weight loss, and even eye problems.

There are several types:

Graves Disease-This is excessive hormones that trigger an autioimmune disorder attacking the body, when the thyroid hormones spill over.

Toxic Adenomas-These are nodules, lumps, growths that develop in the thryoid gland.  If you have several goits it may indicate this.

Subacute Thyroiditis-Painful thyroid causes excessive hormones and inflamation

Pituitary Gland Malfunctions or Cancerous Growths-These are rare but can occur.

Silent Thyroiditis-This causes a mild problem and can results in damage.

Pospartum Thyrroiditis-This can occur after surgery and delivery of a baby.

Ingestion of Excess Thyroid Hormones-This can result in hyperthyroidism.

If you have hypothyroidism it is because there is an underproduction of thryoid hormones.  The body’s energy productio requires certain amounts of thyroid hormones that give you energy.  When you do not have enough you lack energy, feel weak and tired.

Too little hromones often lead to hypothryroidism. You may feel unpleasant, uncomfortable or out of sorts. You can get harmless goiters, enlarged lumps in your neck.  Sometimes they are cancerous.  This is abnormal production of your thryoid.  The throttle in your body is not working as well as it should.  You may feel depressed, fatigued, gain weight, and are tired.
